Dave was born the son of poor Scottish and Spanish immigrants almost before time began and raised on a diet of Haggis and Tortilla’s.  He started playing Bass in the 7th grade just so he could enter into a talent contest with some class mates…. but he’s not sure if he’s ever gotten any better!  He blames the terrible loss of that contest on bad strings. “They sold me a set with nothing but bad notes in them!”

Playing the bass continued through Jr High and High School with the same class mates, but in College he managed to talk his way into playing for the main Jazz band (during his 4 freshman years) where he moved to the acoustic stand-up Bass.  During those 4 incredibly tough years Dave also toured with the LeviRize horn band playing the latest funk and soul.  Most known for being a Tower of Power fanatic, Dave spent many years as an “on-call” Bassist playing for many large groups and shows that were looking for a slightly demented funk player that would work for cheap at the last minute.

“I’ve had the great opportunity to play with some really great musicians and bands through the years, and the Railbirdz are right up there with the best of them!. I’m extremely happy to have been asked to join them. I’ve found my nest!”

Dave moved to Tucson in 1998 to join a major aerospace and aircraft manufacturing company where he still works today.  Besides playing music, Dave is a pilot that enjoys flying both full-size and smaller RC airplanes for fun.  He is also a “motorhead” as well, having owned many high performance cars over the years.

“I’m looking forward to meeting all of the ‘Birdz friends and playing some really great music with the gang!”
